Hotel Marjorie "Y",Tema ( Traveller Review )

The hotel is excellent value for money $100 for a double room, probably one of the best value hotels in Tema and Accra.  The rooms are quite large with nice furnishings and large bathroom with light up vanitary mirror.  The Air Conditioning in the rooms is effective, WI-FI is free, but can be a bit slow at times.  The best feature of the hotel is the beautiful pool and seating area around it.  The pool was cleaned each morning but did not open until 10am, meaning we could not swim before going out to meetings.  It would be good if it opened earlier and perhaps closed earlier as very few people used the pool between 8pm and 10pm

Breakfast was good with a different variety of food each morning, dining menu is good and food is delicious and not over priced.

The front desk staff are very friendly and smiley but at checkout they have the tendency to be slow, this can be frustrating especially when you are on a timescale to reach the airport.
Hotel transfers are free and drivers are friendly and safe, and are on time.

Room service was disappointing we ordered spring rolls and two drinks, we waited for more than 2 hours and when we called the restaurant the gentleman said he could not find the order, we then received a call to our room to say they had found the order and the food would be with us within 10 minutes, 45 minutes later we were still waiting and decided to go out for food.

My partner asked for an iron and ironing board but was told that he would have to send the clothes to the laundry and be charged for them.

We were woken several times before 8.30am by housekeeping (even whilst do not disturb sign was on door) who wanted to clean the room, on one occasion the cleaner even asked my partner if we wanted the room cleaning and look surprised when he said yes, on another occasion the room wasn't cleaned and we had no clean towels and despite asking for them from housekeeping and at the front desk we did not receive them.  This needs addressing by Management as is totally unacceptable.

Water (500ml) were supplied daily, but was charged for, however it would have been nice to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room, instead of fizzy drinks in the fridge.

Overall the hotel was good and we look forward to returning and will recommend it to someone looking for a good value hotel, however, with a little more attention to detail by Management this hotel could be very good
